Buddleja davidii 'Dartmoor'
A very floriferous, vigorously growing butterfly bush with unique magenta to light purple flowers in spacious compound branched panicle clusters.
- Bijenplant
- Standplaats: Sun (>4h)
- Plantafstand: 250cm
- Vorstbestendigd: lager dan -15°C
Buddleja ‘Dartmoor’ is recognisable by its unique magenta to light purple inflorescences consisting of compound branched panicle clusters, 20-30 cm long, instead of the typical single cluster. The flowers have a very sweet scent and are rich in nectar. The shrub can grow up to 5 m tall (if left unpruned); however, the green foliage is inconspicuous and almost identical to the type. The weight of the large clusters causes the ends of the branches to droop, giving a characteristic arching structure. The plant is best pruned back by half in November to limit wind damage. We then prune the plant back to 80 cm in March-April. The plant was found in the National Park 'Dartmoor' in the UK. An interesting plant for bees, butterflies and other insects.
