Old Blush China
Old Blush, Parsons' Pink ChinaA very valuable Chinese rose for our gardens, with half-filled pink flowers. They have a pleasant scent of tea roses. A low upright shrub that blooms well with healthy leaves. Very beautiful in combination with perennials!
- Standplaats: Possible in partial shade (>3u sun)
- Plantafstand: 80cm
- Vorstbestendigd: tot -10°C
As the name tells us, the colour of this old Chinese variety is silver pink, light lilac pink. As the flower ages, it becomes deeper and more intense in colour. This is a typical characteristic of Chinese roses. The medium-sized, almost double flowers are in clusters and loosely filled. The rose is also called 'Monthly Rose' because of its continuous flowering. In warm climates, it can certainly flower all year round. In our country, it is one of the first roses to start flowering until late December. 'Old Blush' forms an upright shrub, almost thornless with a matt green leaf. Sometimes round red hips appear in the autumn.
Ideal as a solitary or in a group. Beautiful in combination with perennials such as blue geraniums.
'Old Blush' or 'Old Blush China' also called 'Parson's Pink China' is a Chinese rose that was probably already cultivated in China in the 10th century. Through the trade that started with Europe in the 18th century, plants came from China in addition to tea and spices. 'Old Blush' was introduced in Europe in 1789. These first Chinese roses in Europe were at the start of our repeat flowering roses, which caused a great evolution in the large 'Rose' family and became the origin of what we call modern roses.
