This old form of the gallica rose was first described by the botanist Pierre-Alfred Déséglise at the end of the 19th century.
The large single flowers that are solitary or in clusters and cover the entire plant are striking. They bloom in June-July, are dark pink veined with a white centre and beautiful golden stamens in the centre.
The leaves are large, medium green and leathery.
The plant itself has a beautiful shrubby shape. We keep our plant at 120-150 cm which is ideal. Beautiful as a solitary, but also in a group.
From September large round orange-red hips appear. Attractive in flower arrangements but also a delicacy for the birds.
