Variety that has been distributed as 'Comte de Chambord' is really 'madame Boll'. The rose 'Comte de Chambord' by Moreau has been lost and in the rose world it is agreed that the rose currently sold under this name is the variety Mme. Boll. It produces large cup-shaped, very thickly filled flowers, often quartered before they open flat. They are pink and slightly darker in the centre. Their fragrance is strong and sweet. The plant is upright and bushy, the foliage is mid-green. It is one of the most popular old roses because of its repeat flowering and strong fragrance. In rainy, moisty weather the very double flowers can ball.
