An elegant white climbing rose with very strong, almost thornless branches. The lanceolate leaves consisting of 3 or 5 leaflets are attractive. The small white double flowers are in small clusters. A beautiful variety that requires a sheltered location in our Belgian climate. This rose is named after Lady Banks, the wife of the naturalist Sir John Banks, who did a lot for the planning of Kew Gardens in London and also sent a Scottish gardener, William Kerr, on an expedition to China to find and collect plants. Foreigners were not welcome and collecting plants was impossible. Kerr did manage to buy plants from the famous Fa-Tee nursery and send them to England. One of the few plants that survived the journey was the double white Banksiae rose.
