A unique rose because of its green flowers. They are said to be a mutation of Rosa chinensis. Here the flower organs (petals, stamens and style) have been transformed into narrow leaf organs. The filled flowers turn purple brown at the base after some time. They remain on the plant for an exceptionally long time. The flowers are small, odourless and form large bunches. The leaf is green and shiny and has 3 to 5 leaflets.
'Viridiflora' remains a low shrub. Suitable for making bouquets or flower decorations because they last a long time and dry beautifully. In the garden the green flowers are not easily noticed.
This rose is said to have its origins in China, long before 1800.
