Rosa rugosa 'Alba' is very attractive due to its large simple white flowers that have a good scent. The flowers appear from June to September and a lot of large round orange-red rose hips appear from August on. These are the best fruits for processing into jam or soup. The R.rugosa 'Alba', like other wild rugosas, is often planted on our coasts and in our dunes. These roses adapt to any type of soil, including poor sandy soil. They are also called the wrinkled rose because their foliage is very ribbed, the veins are deeply marked in the strong, healthy leaves. These roses require little maintenance, a significant shortening every 2 to 3 years is enough. They are powerful plants that sucker. The branches are strongly thorny, making them an ideal impenetrable massif or hedge.
