A strong, easy to maintain and abundantly flowering Damask rose. The shrub attracts attention with its red flower buds from which medium-sized rich pink flowers appear. Their centre is slightly lighter in colour and they fade depending on the intensity of the sunlight. They are cup-shaped flat, semi-double and show their yellow stamens. The flowers are in clusters and have a strong scent. The upright shrub has sturdy branches with a number of thorns of irregular size. Their leaves are fairly large and medium green. Valuable are the round red rose hips that appear in autumn. Ideal as a solitary or in a group.
The plant was discovered as a random seedling in St. Nicholas, Yorkshire UK. A spontaneous seedling, probably between a Damascena x Gallica, found by Robert James in 1950, making this rose a recent Damask rose.
