Tour de Malakoff

‘Tour de Malakoff’ is a historic Centifolia rose, known for its lush blooms and striking colour. The large, very full flowers – often with more than 40 petals – open in a rich magenta-purple shade that gradually softens to lilac. Their flat form evokes the charm of romantic old garden roses.

This rose blooms once per season, typically in June. While it does not rebloom, its strong, sweet fragrance makes it a true scented rose that leaves a lasting impression.

The plant grows vigorously, reaching 185 to 250 cm in height, with arching, thorny stems. It thrives as a freestanding shrub, trained against a support, or planted in a classic rose border or informal hedge.

Best grown in full sun or partial shade, it prefers fertile, well-drained soil. Prune after flowering to maintain shape and encourage renewal.

The rose is named after the French victory at the Malakoff tower during the Crimean War in 1855 – a fitting tribute to its proud and noble appearance.
