The large semi-double flowers have a purple-red colour with violet nuances and striking yellow stamens. They are in small clusters and have a wonderful scent. The plant has an upright growth, with strong branches and grows to approximately 150 cm high. Large mid-green leaves form a dense foliage. Ideal as a solitary, in a group or as a hedge. The large round hips in autumn are also attractive.
'Sissinghurst Castle' was discovered in 1947 in the eponymous Sissinghurst Castle in England and named as such by Vita Sackville-West .
